How to Post Updates, Events, and Offers to Your Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile (GBP) posts appear directly on your Google Search and Google Maps listing. They are one of the fastest ways to put timely content — a new article, an upcoming webinar, a limited-time offer — in front of people who are already searching for your business. Profiles that post regularly also signal to Google that the business is active, which supports your local search visibility.

You can create and schedule GBP posts yourself from your Symphony Core platform at app.symphonycore.com — no need to log in to Google separately. This article walks you through it.

Before You Start

You will need:

  • A login to your Symphony Core platform (app.symphonycore.com). If you don't have one, or your login isn't working, email [email protected] and we will set you up.
  • Your Google Business Profile connected to the platform. If Symphony Core manages your local listing, this is usually already done. If you're not sure, ask us — and if you haven't yet granted us access to your profile, see How to Share Google Business Profile Access with Symphony Core.

Step 1: Open the Post Composer

  1. Log in at app.symphonycore.com.
  2. In the left menu, go to Reputation → GBP Optimization. (Depending on your account's configuration, GBP posting may also be available under Marketing → Social Planner — both open the same composer.)
  3. Click New Post → Create New Post.

Step 2: Choose the Post Type

Google supports three post formats, and the composer lets you pick between them:

Post typeUse it forExtra fields
UpdateGeneral news — a new article, a service announcement, a milestoneNone
EventWebinars, workshops, open houses — anything with a dateEvent title, start date/time, end date/time
OfferTime-bound promotions and discountsOffer dates, optional coupon code / redemption link

For an Event post, fill in the event title and the start and end date/time — Google displays these prominently on your listing, so double-check the timezone.

Step 3: Compose the Post

  1. In the Post to dropdown, confirm your business location is selected.
  2. Write your post text — up to 1,500 characters. Keep the first sentence strong; on the listing, Google truncates long posts behind a "Read more" link.
  3. Include your key details and a link (for example, a registration or booking URL). Links in the body are clickable.
  4. Optionally add a call-to-action button (such as "Learn more", "Sign up", or "Book") pointing to your target URL — buttons get noticeably more clicks than in-text links.

Step 4: Add an Image

An image makes the post substantially more visible on your listing.

  • Format: JPEG or PNG
  • Minimum size: 250 × 250 pixels (larger is better; roughly 1200 × 900 displays well)
  • Maximum file size: 5 MB
  • Video is not supported in GBP posts published through the platform.

Step 5: Publish or Schedule

Click Post, then choose:

  • Post Now — publishes immediately.
  • Schedule Post — pick a date and time; the post appears in the Scheduled Posts tab, where you can still edit or reschedule it before it goes out.
  • Send for Approval — routes the post to a teammate for review before publishing, if your account uses approval workflows.

After publishing, open your business listing on Google (search your business name) to confirm the post looks right.

Good to Know

  • Posting limit: Google allows a maximum of 100 posts per 24 hours per connected account — far more than any normal use, but relevant for bulk scheduling.
  • Post lifespan: standard Update posts are featured on your listing for about a week before rolling into your post history; Event and Offer posts stay featured until their end date. Regular posting keeps your listing fresh.
  • Connection expired? If publishing fails with a connection error, the link between the platform and Google needs to be refreshed. Email [email protected] and we will reconnect it.
