Track Your Marketing Performance (Google Analytics & Search Console)
"Is my marketing actually working?" should never be a guessing game. During onboarding, we set up the measurement stack that answers it: Google Analytics to show where visitors come from and what they do, Tag Manager to manage the tracking cleanly, and Search Console to monitor how Google sees your site. Here's what we configure, what you get out of it, and the little we need from you.
The Three Tools, In Plain Language
| Tool | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 (GA4) | Who visits your site, where they came from (Google, ads, social, referrals), and what they do there |
| Google Tag Manager (GTM) | Nothing directly — it's the container that manages your measurement tags without touching your website's code |
| Google Search Console (GSC) | How your site performs in Google Search: what people searched, how often you appeared, and any site health issues |
What We Set Up
- A GA4 property for your business, configured with your timezone and currency, with enhanced measurement on (page views, scrolls, outbound clicks, video engagement, file downloads).
- A Tag Manager container installed on your site, with GA4 wired through it — so future measurement additions never require code edits on your site.
- A Search Console property for your domain, verified and with your sitemap submitted, so Google indexes your site properly and reports search performance.
- The connections between them — Search Console linked to GA4, so search data appears alongside your traffic reporting.
- A live verification — we confirm real-time tracking works before we call it done.
Who Owns What
We create and administer these under Symphony Core's setup account as part of your service, and you get full access: an Editor invitation to your Analytics arrives at your primary email during onboarding. You can view every report, and the administration staying with us means access never breaks when staff changes on either side.
Already have Google Analytics or Search Console from a previous setup? Tell us before onboarding — we'll coordinate with what exists instead of creating duplicates.
What You'll Be Able to See
- Where leads come from — which channels actually produce visitors and inquiries, not just impressions
- What content works — the pages people find, read, and act on
- Your search presence — the real queries that surface your business on Google
- Trends over time — your data accrues from setup day forward (GA4 retains detailed event data for 14 months on the standard tier)
One expectation worth setting: analytics starts collecting from the day it's installed. There's no historical backfill, which is exactly why we set this up early in onboarding.
What We Need From You
Usually nothing beyond onboarding items you've already provided:
- Your primary email (for the Analytics access invitation)
- If your domain's DNS isn't already in our hands, one verification record — covered by the access you granted in Connect Your Domain
- A heads-up about any existing Analytics or Search Console setup
Key Takeaways
- We set up GA4, Tag Manager, and Search Console as one connected measurement stack during onboarding.
- You get full visibility (Editor access); we handle the administration and verification.
- Data collection starts at setup — the earlier it's live, the sooner trends become visible.
